I helps you with smarts. If you have advanced thread, hair, footprint, or handwriting analysis, it ups your chance of identifying whether the hair is curly or straight, the footprint is heavy or slim, the thread is male or female, and the handwriting is left or right handed.
It is not always a guarantee work, but again the more smarts you have on to examine the crime scene the better chance you have of identifying these things!
