The power of Sleuth is now in your hands!

There is now an online Scripted Mystery editor available in the new Writer's Workshop section of City Hall. The idea here is better empower all of you to contribute your own content, which will hopefully keep things fresher for longtime players.

Also, if you just want to keep the mysteries you write private, you can can choose to do that. We'll be providing ways to share those private mysteries with your friends soon.

Note: Scripted Mysteries = Featured Mysteries, although since we're likely to have a lot more of them soon, eventually we'll start to "Feature" some of the "Scripted" mysteries, and the non featured ones will just be referred to as Scripted Mysteries. Confusing?

Feel free to use this thread for questions about the Mystery Editor and to discuss mystery writing.

If you had previously submitted a mystery by email, feel free to resubmit it through the tool. Doing so will also allow you to preview the mystery before it is published for public consumption.

I'm looking forward to see what you all come up with!

All of the Sleuth Avatars are up for grabs in the photo choosing, so if you submit a photo for an avatar, you could then use it?

At least, you can do that until Ben adds a feature for this.

For some reason, when a person gives their alibi, it's not automatically putting the alibi verification question in for the townie. I don't necessarily want this to happen because I like making my own questions and answers, but the notes say it is supposed to. And it does work for the PE townies for checking evidence. So I just want to check if this is right.

Secondly... I don't know if it's because I don't have any smart gear on when I am testing it, but the evidence doesn't tell me the characteristics... like straight/curly, heavy/slim, etc. I have my case marked as AI now, so maybe i should make it Easy until I am done creating it? Or do we not have the ability to show the characteristics of evidence?

Hi nicnic,

I'll look into both of those issues. Thanks for pointing them out.

I've just fixed a couple of bugs related to previewing unpublished FMs:

1) You were not able to preview your FM if you were out of daily cases.

2) If you accused the guilty suspect while previewing, the case would appear to finish, but then on the next pageview, you'd still be in that case. So the only way to exit the preview was to quit the case or accuse an innocent suspect.

There are a few other bugs we know about related to editing/previewing, but those two were by far the most serious.

Thanks to all who reported these problems.

OK. I have another issue that I hope is the last :) I'm previewing my mystery and every time a twist is supposed to appear, I get kicked back to the log in page and once I log back in, there is no twist. It happened 4 times on different twists, so I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence.

despite the little bugs, wow it's great to hear about so many new FM's being written! :D

Definitely SS. This is so exciting! I've been wanting to try one for a while, and this just makes it sooooo easy.

The writer is great! One question though. After a piece of evidence has been discoved to belong to a person, there doen'st seem to be a way to unlock anything. I've re-written it so it works otherwise, but it would be great to be able to unlock questions/twists after having the evidence anylized.

My FM is done, I just need to photo for one of the suspects. Can I send the photo into the avatar's e-mail, and will it get added to the list of suspect photos?
thanks

Hey, does this mean we no longer use the previous method of submitting FM's, because I'm in the middle of writing one, so should I just use the scripted mystery system instead?

Yes Odie. Do that :) Once you've had a go at it, you'll want to use it anyhow.
