If you had to re-start your detective from scratch, what would you do differently this time around?

As a charming detective, I would have been smarter about getting my contacts, working favours only for female ones. Male townies answer my questions anyway, for the most part, and as it happens most of my contacts are male, which leaves me at the mercy of those vicious females.

Ara, I totally agree! My male contacts seem like a bit of a waste. Killing Ruby...oh yes... or maybe that tailor in Delhi...

I'd have Shady and Big Lucy as my Contacts. Larry the Toe keeps asking if he can crash at my Apartment, but I'm like, whatever...

It's funny because when we first introduced Contacts, it never really occurred to me that a PE contact could invalidate the need for an advanced skill (although having the advanced skill still saves clicks). This was a bigger issue of course when there was only the one city. Now, I don't think theres very many people who've managed to get the same PE contact in all 5 cities.

To (badly) paraphrase Secret_Squirrel:

Like meatloaf through the hourglass, so are the days of our sleuthy lives :)

I'm one of the idiots who bought stress detection and judge of character early on, like waaay before I had all the smart skills. I'd do that over like Keanu Reeves in Hamlet.

I'm with Ara, would have same sex PE & WE contacts, jumped way too quickly at the Music Teacher & Tailor in my first week of Sleuth.

I don't regret it now, as it has been good to earn XP, and learn from scratch, basically by myself, but I think I'd also have joined a proper agency to steepen the learning curve.

Is there anyway to avoid falling in love with suspects?

I'd drop Judge of Character for sure, it's only useful before you start specialising.

Otherwise I'd probably stay the same.

Well, the gender/contact thing actually never occurred to me (duh!), so it makes sense that more picking and choosing of contacts would have been good. I'd probably have skipped Judge of Character, and I would have aligned with the Tea Steepers, rather than the Tigers.
