Is it true that most men have a better relationship with their mom than with their dad? I for one know my mom couldn't wish for a better son to have like me......ahem :-)

And what do women think about guys who are close with their mom? Does the horrific cliché of the mother-in-law still stand?

Spit it out folks!

I don't think it's a better relationship than with dad, I think it's different. There are some things men, which were boys first, just don't talk about with their dad for some reason dad is off limits. From early on boys learn that mom will fix it. Young men may talk to their dad about getting the attention of someone who has caught their eye but mom will tell him how he should treat her. See, mom knows all the crazy things a scorned women will do and mom don't want that mess in her house.

As far as them being close to their mom, it's only horrific is the mother-in-law is nosey, rude and manipulative. Or worse case, if he is married to his mom. Then we have issues.

I have a little son, who I hope will always be "Momma's boy." As long as he's not 32 and still living in my basement, playing video games, smoking pot, and eating all my food. Then he can go be someone else's boy.

I would be considerin mahself a mommas boy. And mah Missy Sue she done got no problems with mah momma. But then them being cousins and havin been reared up together might be a helpin.

Now my cousin Sissy May, thrice removed on my pappy's side, has herself a mothrnlaw meaner than a rattlesnake with a toothache. Danged if that girl isn't so stuck up she'd drown in a rainstorm.

To be technicly co-rect tho that ol' girl is Sissy May's fella Uriah's pappy Bubba Tom's third wife. (D'yall follow me on that there point?)

And ifn it wasn't for the fact ol' Sissy May was ascared a being hauled upa infronta the law for beatin' a minor - what with Uriah's new momma only bein 14 and all - she woulda done opened up a cana whoopass on that girl a long time ago.

So I'm supposin it's alla case of what card' y'all be gettin' dealt. Alls I know is y'all better not mess with the women folk, well... its like puttin gas in the tank of the car ya'lready wrecked!

MIL's are only bad if they're like mine. Nosey and manipulative. As Farm said. And if they live less than 200 feet from you, it's even worse. My husband is kind of a Momma's Boy. He thinks everything his mother says is right. But he's like that with his dad too.

My son is both. He loves spending time with his daddy. Playing football, as well as a 3 yr old can, and going for bucka rides (horsey) and beat it (four wheeler) rides, and "helping" daddy build things. But when he needs hugs and kisses and comfort, he comes to me. Especially at night when he has a bad dream.

My husband has a great relationship with his mom, and they're really good friends. Hehe, the lady is sweet as heck, gullible beyond belief, good-natured, and loves practical jokes. In other words, an easy target who doesn't mind a laugh at her own expense - and her son takes full advantage of that.

Fortunately, I have been blessed with an Awesome MIL. She doesn't butt in, but is there when needed, and always has both ears open when you need to talk (as well has her mind and her heart). Wonderful lady. And my husband says he's really lucky to have the MIL that he has.

Please don't ask about fathers.

Dominic its nice that you want to participate in the boards, and happy birthday.

But you're pretty much just sticking random thoughts on threads that have a purpose, both here and in Sleuth Talk.

Take Dominic Cope for instance, he's been trying to hijack severl threads and I bet his mom would say as long as your not hurting anyone and having fun, it's o.k. Another couple of years of this and she will have ruined him.

What woman would want to be in a relationship with a man who always has to get his way? And deal with the woman who made it all possible. Not I.

Send him back to his mom, she destroyed him.

Oh and by the way Happy birthday.

I dunno Farm, I always thought "hijacking" implied going somewhere new...Dom's more sort of doing "speed-dating for one"...just awkward. You pause, stare and continue.

The Momma's boy thing is one thing, but the Daddy's girl thing just makes me shudder. Might as well give your daughter a stripper pole and a full frontal lobotomy for her sweet 16th.
