I am maybe looking to join an agency but I have a few questions about agencies if anyone can help:

Do I have to be based in the same city as the agency?

When it says 'Maximum Case Files per Detective' what does this mean?

What exactly does an agency do?

Yeah, you can, although it's not great form to go agency hopping, particularly if your current agency has just paid for travel to a different city or given you other resources.

As long as you aren't the sole director (I think) of an agency, you can always resign and accept an invite from another agency. Just make sure to give back any items that your first agency might have let you use, square up loose ends etc. You can also ask your current director to kick you out.

I think I'll mention that the Directors of all Agencies communicate regularly with each other. There's even a private chat room where they discuss 'Agency Stuff'. So it's in all players best interests to leave their current Agency in as good a favour and grace as possible.

Shite happens, no doubt about it - you have a disagreement about one of your team-mates hair styles or the way they OMG & LOL all the time, but hey we should all play 'nice' - so if you're gonna leave, as the crunch says, make sure you leave with some class and only with what you came with (and/or have accrued along the way) eh.

I don't usually go into the Website section of Sleuth unless I'm pointing a new player to Hunters and need the URL, but I was really impressed by the depth of knowledge on offer out there. Not 'answers' per se. I'm not into all that 'let me give you 'all' the answers to 'everything' so you don't ever have to think, but I am into teaching materials that guide players on how to move forward in the game under their own steam.

Some Agencies have really gone to a lot of trouble to post exhaustive guides. Hunters, for example, has great 'how to play a case' material [just to name but one]. I think all players, let alone new players, should take the time to read that guide.

But ALL of the sites are just great advertisements for Sleuth by how they go about introducing themselves and their love of the game.

And if you were a new player and looking to join an Agency, it would be worth hitting their website first (if they had one) to see what kind of atmosphere their site reflects. Most of them give you a good feel for the players of the Agency.

So, old or new, take a look at the website section sometime.

There is some, good, informative, and sometimes very funny stuff, out there.

HI I'm kind of new, and I was wondering about the Agency stuff. How do you get into one?

The way to get into an agency, is simply as it says at the top of this message board, "You must be a subscribed player to start/join ANY agency in Sleuth."

Thats how you start, then you look in here to see whose hiring and what specifications they might have, if any.

Hi, how much experience should I get before it's ideal to join an agency? I've got around 30k so far. But I've recently subscribed so I hope to boost that in a couple of days. Thanks!

Hi Zen.

1. No, you won't have access to any case files anymore until you resub. Sorry. Most other agency options will still be available though.

2. Yes, you do have access to your Agency's locker. If you have an apartment, though, you may not be able to do much with it.

3. No, you won't be automatically kicked out of your Agency. You're there for however long you choose to stay (there are lots of Agencies that have Unsubbed people in them). However, if for some reason you leave or get kicked out of your Agency, you're gone, and won't be able to come back until you resub.

Hope all that helps. ;-)

I have some questions:
Will one be able to share the money with other agency members in the other or the same city if the subscription expires?
Are there still subscriptions awarded to those who write featured mysteries?
Thanks
