I'm still fairly new at this, and some guy offered me the location of Big Lucy's Cabaret for $500, and I paid him, but nothings happened. I have the distinct feeling I got weasled out of some money. Did I?

2 things, firstly I'm switiching this across to Newbies and secondly, yes & no.

No you haven't been swindled. Larry gave you intructions as to how to get to the Cabaret.

Move your mosue over the map, and you find a spot that you can click on (that's not marked on the map). Big Lucy's is a hidden location.

This is also covered in the Newbie FAQ at the botom fo the page!

lol However, you might feel like you've been swindled once you get there lol. But that's all up to personal opinion.

Happy Sleuthing Ellie.

***this post should probably be moved to Newbie Questions***

No, you did not get weaseled. Larry the toe will sometimes offer you the location of Big Lucy's Cabaret during a case. When you pay the $500, he will disclose a vague location on the map. The map will not SHOW where the Cabaret is, instead you have to use the clue to search for it on the map. The pointer will change when you're over it. This will only work until you start your next case; at that time, the Cabaret will move and you'll need to pay the $500 again to find it.

That being said, there isn't a whole lot of purpose to the Cabaret for new players. The cabaret sometimes holds treasure hunt information, sells some unique items (at a very high price) and has some other "secret" purposes, according to rumors. Feel free to check it out, but bear in mind that based on your status in the game, you may not find it incredibly useful.
