As a very new player can any detective advise me on how many experience points you should have before advancing to Intermediate? I'm a bit reluctant because I accidently got into 'intermediate' at the beginning by offering to do someone a favour and found it baffling.

Hi there Cloake,

It's not really a question of experience points per se, but rather of whether a) you have gotten a feel for how the game works at your current level, and b) whether you have bought yourself any new skills since the time of your bafflication. Favours are also sometimes slightly more difficult than regular cases at the same level simply because you start out with less people on the witness list.

Having said that, I'd say that you're probably ready. One thing that might make things easier for you, if you aren't already doing this, is to make sure you ask people the 'other people with motive' question BEFORE you ask them if they have an alibi. Usually this gets you a full witness list without having to waste valuable questions asking townsfolk if they have heard anything about the case. Give it a shot - worst thing that happens is you quit a case and try it again when you have some new skills.

Good luck!

Thanks for that bit of encouragement and advice crunchpatty. Am going to try Intermediate - I may be back again with some foolish newbie questions ....?.....

Also, Cloake, if you've being getting through your favours without too much trouble (these start at Intermediate), you should be able advance to that level for the regular cases as well pretty easily :)

And if you find it hard, you can always go back.

Erhhm, just thought I'd check, but have you tried a favour yet at all? You get one of these after 4 successfully solved cases (this includes the last successfully solved favour so it's: 1 solved favour -> 3 regular cases solved -> next favour)?

Just to say thanks to reda Greyling and crunchpatty. With a couple of quits (i from a favour, 1 from an intermediate game) I have completed 11 intermediates and have made it to No 27 in the Novice Hall of Fame! Watch out AVs I'm on my way.

OK just one last question - is there any way of knowing how hard a favour is? That one I quit seemed too hard - everyone clammed real quick no one had any info etc

If you go to the case tab while doing a favour it will tell you what level the mystery is.
