Swapping Items

Just a short post in which I would like to bring to discussion the recent spate of swapping items between agencies. I believe this is certainly unethical and takes away much of the challenge of the game. For obvious reasons I cannot be too specific, but it does not reward hard work and organisation, just laziness. It also abuses what the locker function is all about.

Obviously you cannot ban people from trading things between agency lockers and calling it unethical is not going to stop people doing it.

I would like to hear the Sleuth community's thoughts on the issue, I may be in the minority but from my initial feedback I feel like this has caused some distatste amongst some members.

Should the majority find this practice unethical I propose a 72hr cooloff period for locker access in agencies after having been promoted to agent or higher. This would also to a certain extent prevent immediate hit and run thefts that have happened from time to time.

Discuss :)

I was under the impression that all the items needed would be found on IH favors, seeing that pretty much ANYONE going to the new areas would have to be working AIs to even get to the new areas? I know favor level is based on how many youve done, but by the time you get to AI, most people have done enough to be up to IHs...

If this is wrong, I will take back what I said, but I don't believe that Ben would make this the case, KNOWING we couldn't get there on our own.

Maybe that's the point, biggie? To get us to work together?

for the record, my double (Christopher Leroy) is in the middle of an AV hunt at really really hard favor level... Granted, this is by no means the norm, but it is possible to be below IH favors and be looking for IH items.

I also realize that my double will have access to IH favors in the very near future... just wanted to respond to biggie's comment about the situation.

I really think we need Ben to step in and define the scope of the items that are possible for this situation. Then at least we can either narrow or eliminate the argument.

i was also under the same impression, biggie. I thought all items were from IH favors. If its not true, then why doesn't someone just let Ben know about this conundrum?

If it is on purpose, and this is something we SHOULD be doing, I would love to have it clarified as I will be first in line to trade with someone LOL

Never let it be said that I'm not a hypocrite :D

I'm just saying, biggie....

It's perfectly acceptable to trade items with someone in your agency, but why isn't it allowed with someone who is outside your agency?

Well, I'm too new to even participate in the AVL, or even hunt a villain, but it seems to me that player-run events such as this spread out the idea that guilds are the only sort of team available. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the AVL represents cooperation/competition from players in many guilds.

If would therefore follow, at least to me, that Biggie has the right idea in putting these "swaps" out in the open. If there's going to be a "black market" in desirables, and I can't see how that could be stopped, then an "open market" would allow anyone with a very desirable, but not so useful for the detective type, to trade or share with another detective regardless of guild.

It would certainly help those "lone wolf" types as well. I hope I'm not offending anyone by stating my opinion, none intended, but I've seen a lot of games ruined by "under the table" trades/alliances, etc.

It's not like I am getting anything more out of trading than those who are not trading - I'm simply trying to get it in a more timely manner.
