This is a whine ,, only a whine. My last 4 favors have been for the fortune teller. It would not be so bad if I did not already have the
fortune teller as my contact. I am trying to get my PE contact in London and have about 160,000 experience points.

Has anyone else been in a situation like this?

Also might I add that in the Newbie FAQ it says this about contacts

How do you get (the right) contacts?
You can have up to 2 contacts in each city - one PE (physical evidence) contact (barber, banker, tailor, shoemaker) and one non-PE (fortune teller, bartender, waiter, etc.). You get a contact by doing favors for the townspeople. Most of the time you'll get a piece of equipment, but sometimes the townsperson will become your contact. Once a townsperson becomes your contact that's it, you can't exchange that person for someone else. So if you want to get specific contacts, f. ex. a specific PE contact, you'll have to quit any favors you might get for the other PE townies. Just keep in mind that getting a specific contact can take a little longer due to the quits.

Seems fairly cut and dry to me. I wonder if Ben would mind confirming whether there is or is not a way to get the contact you want other than quitting favors.

So far Ben has not posted anythng about favors not being random, so the working premise still stands.

Chron has suggested that he knows a secret that let's him tell his team which of them will get which favor for a hunt.

If that is the case then Eye Spy and Hitchhikers London must know something because they both have many more hunts solved than ERF does lately.

But I still think that it is random and that those two agencies just do a lot of hard work to win their hunts.

Does anyone else know of what Chron could be talking about?

I know of a system that was once talked about long ago in an agency I belonged to... and we pretty much ruled it out after about 3 months of studying if you could control what favors/contacts you got. But that was long ago, so it may be that something has changed....

However, I stand with Ran on this one: I call your bluff Chronestrian. Unless you can provide sufficient proof (or Ben states it is as you say it is), then I don't think you're right on this matter.

Cheers

Your 'stats-based' rebuttal is invalid because ERF TEAM was shut down for over 18 months, as I've said before. Also, we don't participate in multi-city hunts. I'll say this though- I made my statement as the #1 ranked agent in an effort to give some enlightenment to those behind me. I will leave each and every one of you with this - when the #1 of ANYTHING offers some advice, don't you think it's wise to listen? ;-) HAPPY SLEUTHING TO ALL, and to all a good nite! lol

Doesn't work Chron... I'm number 1 in my agency and even I won't listen to me... so what chance have you got mate :D

In fact every time I try to assert my number onedness, Paranoid reminds me that there's always someone better out there, and that eventually... I'll just be plain old number two. lol ;)

dude, I'm #1 in the entire site! OK, I'm just gonna put it out there for everyone! Every townsperson in every city has a political affiliation, just like every agent. Know the affiliations....!

Hey, well that's very clever. If you worked that out by yourself (and I'll just take it at face value that it's true) you deserve to be No. 1. Seriously. :)

everything that is 'supposedly' random has a statistical equation. But I didn't work this out, I just observed it. As I said before, Kudos to Ben for making this game much more awesome than most of us realized! I also have charts for many other elements (but those will retire with my agent!).
