Due to the success of the lateral puzzles in the "A riddle" thread, it seems appropriate to start a lateral thinking puzzle thread.

A rule of thumb to follow would be to allow those who do not know the answer to figure it out for themselves. If you happen to know the answer, please keep it to yourself and let the others have the fun.

Please feel free to start one at any point. It is not necessary to wait for one to finish before starting another one.

Were the performing some other kind of job by asking these questions? [Yes]

Was there a particularly methodoloy to who they did/not ask? [Yes]

Are the numbers of askers or answerers relevant in any way? [No]

Would the story work if the askers were not grown? [No] men? [Yes]

did they ask to see people's reactions? [Yes]

But there was *something* relevant about the askers' clothing, correct? [Yes]

Were the askers all wearing the same clothing? [Yes] Did the clothing have some kind of message, either overt or implied? [I wouldn't say the clothing had a message.]

Was the clothing some kind of recognizable uniform? [Yes]

If the clothing was some kind of uniform, was it the type that specifically belonged to people in a specific job? [Yes] career? [Could be] specific job type? [Yes]

Were they interested in how peopel answered in terms of an accent? [No, but excellent question.]

Were the men asking other questions? Were they along the same theme? Are the questions random?

Was there any connections between the people they were asking? Or were they asking random people (Like stopping people in the street)?

Were the grown men American soldiers (or some other official goverment-military worker) asking returning "American" soldiers the Minnie Mouse question in order to ferret out potential spies during a war (Cold or otherwise)?
