Hi palpally...unfortunately the safe cracking skill won't be much use to you right now. It's really only a useful one if you are a subscribed player and a member of an agency, which you aren't, ugh, sorry. It lets you break into a bank vault in order to claim a prize, but both the competition and the prize here are only available to agencies, and you can't join one of these unless you subscribr to the full game.
There's quite a lot of useful information about which skills to buy first, and how being subscribed and in an agency changes the game on the 'welcome newbies' thread here on the Newbie board.
For future reference, the general rule of thumb for those in the know is to pretty much ignore any of the skills you can buy from the factions, like Cosa Nostra, until you have all the smart skills available and EITHER all the charming or tough skills.
