Up to you mate, but if you have enough skill points lying around to buy Hypnotism I think you would be much better off spending them on advanced interview skills.

Rufus, one more comment for you.

You say you have interegation and rule bending. So you are mixing the charm and tough skills as you go.

It is one way to build a detective, but it will be a long and hard road for you. Good luck.

Its better to have interview skills before the faction ones. You can better choose tough or charm and concentrate on thse interview skills. Hypnotism is nice, but you can still solve cases without.

Of course it's up to you, but hypnotism is one of the last things I would go for if starting a new detective. (Although very last would be picking pockets.)

What serves you well now to solve lower level case will likely change as you get up to higher levels. I know I am echoing others, but the interview skills are KEY. I also recommend following either a tough OR a charming path to start with, balanced out with some smarts, then adding in the one you don't have of tough or charming towards the latter part of your skill acquisition.
