I have created a sleuth miracle!

IT IS THE UNHIJACKABLE THREAD!

Go ahead and try, but this thread is about anything and nothing, all at the the same time!

This is the place where Al can talk about world domination, Crunch can worship David Hasselhoff, SS can try and find even more complicated questions for his pub quizzes, Nikkie can advertise for Tim Tams, cfm can troll for more Sharpie victims, JR can beg for the chance to win Bobo back, and bedazzling can be a way of life!

So go off, rant and rave, talk about anything, i don't care, I just wanted to see my avatar on the page (when its actually me anyways)

So go ahead, I dare you all to try and hijack me :)

An Oklahoma woman who burned herself with Burger King coffee has settled her Greene County lawsuit against the restaurant chain.

Donna Aslanis claimed Burger King was negligent for burns she suffered after she spilled hot coffee from a Rolla restaurant on herself eight years ago.

The former Missourian had sought damages to pay for medical care and other costs because a restaurant employee allegedly failed to tell her the coffee was hot. Springfield attorney Monte Clithero, who represented Burger King, denied the chain was responsible.

My goodness, when will you Americans stop!

What is it with you though? Is it some compulsion for an American person to sue someone if something doesn't go their way?

I think the best story I ever heard was one about a woman from the South. Her son was shot and killed by a boy who accused him of being a bully. The woman decided to sue. But who did she sue? The child? His Parents? The gun store where his father bought the gun? Nope. The gun manufacturer.

She sued the manufacturer of the handgun as she said they produced 'life-taking weapons.' What's more, she rallied together with others in similar situations and took a claim to court suing 25 gun manufacturers. In all, 15 companies were found to be negligent, because they 'allowed' their weapons to be stolen, or sold to people who may use them. This surprised everyone, partly because some companies could be found negligent, but not all of them.

Firstoff, its not "you" its certain people. Not everyone in America is this way.

The best I can figure, is our lax civil laws allow for people to try and sue for anything and everything. However, don't generalize, I'm sure there are stupid, opportunistic sonsaguns everywhere.

Thats right Adam, even in jolly old England :) It would pretty hard to sue a gun manufacturer in a country where they aren't even allowed ;)

Ok...

New topic!!!! :D

Harry Potter. Thoughts?

What about fanfiction? Copyright Infringement or not? And don't forget fanvids.

And my all time favorite: Did Terra (me) and Jeremy (my husband) get married to young? (As asked by my husbands family who don't like too much because I took Jeremy away from his mother and corrupted him by making him a man. Which apperently I'm going to hell for) I was 19 and he was 20. We weren't even old enough to drink at our wedding. We made up for it on the honeymoon though. We went to Mexico and got so drunk we lost a day. An entire day. It was amazing.

And don't forget the kid issue. I have 3 before I'm 25. His mother has 9, so she's not one to talk, but she does anyway.

She once suggested, and I quote, "You could pay Alicia (his Sister) to cook for you Terra. Since you can't." HA. I can cook. I just didn't want to cook in her kitchen. See, we lived with her for 2 years, while we were building our house. NEVER DO THAT! EVER! I can not stress that enough. DON'T EVER LIVE WITH YOUR MIL.

Once the house was finished, we moved in. We got a whopping 100 yard away from her. She gave us 2 acres as a wedding present. Isn't that nice? That way Jeremy can be RIGHT THERE whenever she needs him. Or when his dad needs him. Or anyother person or reason so that he doesn't spend time with me.

And don't even get me started on the organic stuff. I don't mind eating healthy or organic. But I do mind someone shoving the stuff down my throat so to speak. If I want advice on that stuff I'll ask, otherwise leave my Doritos, Milk, and Cereal alone.

Harry Potter:

I don't get the hype or the fascination, especially from adults. They are children's books! As far as copyright goes, who cares? You'd think the author would be flattered. I would be if I were her.

Young marriage:

I think it depends on the couple. Not knowing you, I can't really say. What I can tell you is that my parents got married when my dad was 24 and my mom was 19. They have four kids, they are still happy and healthy, and most definitely still together. My mom had two by the time she was 25, so if you're happy together, then good for you. No one can tell you that you're too young, as long as you're mature enough to understand what you're doing.

PS your life sounds like Everybody Loves Raymond minus about ten years :)

*sighs* Harry Potter... well here we are diametrically opposed again biggles. I started reading HP when one of the kids at a youth camp I was running threw me Philosophers Stone (yes "Philosophers". Isn't is sad they had to dumb down the title in some countries) I'm a huge fan. Not coz it's necessarily well crafted literature, but because it reaches out to my inner child, and reminds me of all the things I wished were true when I was a kid. And it's not Lord of the Rings or Wuthering Heights but it IS a good story (complex even). And anything that has encouraged so many children (AND adults) to pick up a physical book instead of switching on the TV is all good with me.

I thought the Harry Potter books were quite good. Not linguistically complex as such, but a nice, easy read. Much better than the films.

And its only NOT copyright infringement if the characters are used in non commercial satire. Fan fiction IS copyright infringement as its not satirical, unlike the "Harry Pothead and the Philosopher's Stoned" as used in Scary Movie 2.

I don't understand this about organic stuffs (maybe I'm stupid): if there is nothing "extra" put into it, how come it costs more?

HUmmmm.. I totally liked the Harry Potter books. I didnt at first..Thought what the heck is the big deal?? they are childrens books. then after the 4 or 5 one came out a friend of mine lent me here copies. I read them non-stop until i was finished. Now i am hooked. I like the imagaination of the writer. goodness who wouldnt want to live in a world with magical things.. dragons.. witches.. and all that. I know i did when i was a kid. I totally agree with Paranoid Android.. anything that encourages a kid or an adult to pick up a book and use their mind is not a bad thing.

As far as organic stuff?? well. i guess it is more expensive to produce it since they have to use natural forms of pesticide. or even greenhouse the items. I hate that healthy food is more expensive that crap food. It is rediculous. *as i pull out a cookie out of the cookie jar* OHhh.. umm.. i guess i should put this back huh? smiles

Well, all. I had a really good day today. Today was family day..with my husbands family. we went to my sister-in-laws and the kids played. then we ate..SOOOO full. And get this i didnt have to do any of the cooking.. i am sooo lucky today. smiles. I have been working my butt off lately. so i am tired all the time. which sucks. BUT it wont be for long that i will be like this. hopefully, everything will settle down!

Hoping everyone is doing well.. take care all you sleuthies!!!
