I have created a sleuth miracle!

IT IS THE UNHIJACKABLE THREAD!

Go ahead and try, but this thread is about anything and nothing, all at the the same time!

This is the place where Al can talk about world domination, Crunch can worship David Hasselhoff, SS can try and find even more complicated questions for his pub quizzes, Nikkie can advertise for Tim Tams, cfm can troll for more Sharpie victims, JR can beg for the chance to win Bobo back, and bedazzling can be a way of life!

So go off, rant and rave, talk about anything, i don't care, I just wanted to see my avatar on the page (when its actually me anyways)

I have the best husband in the world. Last night I was actually exhausted to tears. I mean, real tears. The non-sleep finally caught up with me. As expected at about the 2 month mark of a newborn's life. :)

So he took over the mommy duties for the night and put the kids to bed, watched the infant and even changed her diaper. (which he doesn't like to do cause she's a girl and it's "icky") And he let me go to bed early.

Now, why is this extraordinary, you ask? My husband works 10 hours a day in construction, with only a 20 minute break and a 30 minute lunch. It's phyically hard and draining. When he comes home, HE is exhausted. So it was nice of him to take over for the night.

And, bonus, he's kinda cute while trying to get the toddlers into bed too. :P

Poor Driving Costs Ford Millions

From the Galveston County Daily News: A woman is awarded a $16.7M verdict for killing her son in a car accident.

* Speeding
* Foggy Conditions
* No Seatbelt

Yep, definitely Ford’s fault.

Denver attorney Tim O’Neill, representing Ford, had told jurors that Reding had been driving too fast, particularly for the foggy conditions present the night of the crash. He also said the boy not wearing a seat belt played heavily into his tragic fate.

“Nothing about that vehicle caused that accident? he said in his opening statement last week. “It was avoidable. It was preventable?

During the trial, evidence showed that Reding most likely was driving at 37 mph when she veered right, turning the steering wheel 42 degrees.

“If you designed a vehicle that at 37 mph and 42 degrees rolls over, it’s a defective vehicle,? Buzbee said in closing arguments.

The verdict, which Ford attorneys said they would appeal Wednesday, is the first of its kind in Texas and the third nationwide.

See I really don't understand the litigious (is that the right word?) nature of some people. In some countries it seems to be the mentality that if you can make a buck out of it, or you can exact vengeance on someone through the courts then go for it.

Heaven forbid that the judicial system should be used for prosecuting criminals. Much better that we spend out tax dollars paying someone to adjudicate between Mr X & Mrs Y who's tree is dropping its leaves in Mr X's yard, and how many thousands of dollars in trauma it's causing Mr X to rake them up.

Last year an Australian woman was sued whilst holidaying in the US because she was 'rude' enough to tap a lady on the shoulder and tell her to shut the hell up because said lady was having a loud conversation on her mobile phone in the theatre 'during' the movie. Apparently the US lady felt her private space had been invaded. In reality she was lucky, if she'd been in Aus. her private space would have been invaded alright ... probably with the mobile phone she was speaking on... preferably round the back of the head!

Shows like Boston Legal (which I really find very funny) 'should' be comedies, but unfortunately they are just art imitating life. (or something like that)

very true (and yes, litigious is the right word)

everyone is sue happy, and the saddest part being those cases where say the gentleman whos trying to rob your house gets himself locked in your garage, and then has to survive for days on dog food, then sues you and WINS for emotional distress.

Like I said to the jury -and hopefully for the last time- I'm really sorry I cleared out your Alpo stash. But you aren't telling the whole story. You've conveniently left out key facts, like:

a) you pahked your cah on my foot and lahked the doah
b) you left me with some creepy-ass firebug kid "Mickey" from southie who just got out of juvi hall, and you gave him like a BAG of matches
c) your garage is full of creepy old clown costumes and circus porn
d) you don't even HAVE a dog (what's that about???)
e) you frickin' well videotaped the whole ordeal with a teddy bear nanny cam and posted it on YouTube!

So hellz yeah I'm distressed!

An Oklahoma woman who burned herself with Burger King coffee has settled her Greene County lawsuit against the restaurant chain.

Donna Aslanis claimed Burger King was negligent for burns she suffered after she spilled hot coffee from a Rolla restaurant on herself eight years ago.

The former Missourian had sought damages to pay for medical care and other costs because a restaurant employee allegedly failed to tell her the coffee was hot. Springfield attorney Monte Clithero, who represented Burger King, denied the chain was responsible.

My goodness, when will you Americans stop!

What is it with you though? Is it some compulsion for an American person to sue someone if something doesn't go their way?

I think the best story I ever heard was one about a woman from the South. Her son was shot and killed by a boy who accused him of being a bully. The woman decided to sue. But who did she sue? The child? His Parents? The gun store where his father bought the gun? Nope. The gun manufacturer.

She sued the manufacturer of the handgun as she said they produced 'life-taking weapons.' What's more, she rallied together with others in similar situations and took a claim to court suing 25 gun manufacturers. In all, 15 companies were found to be negligent, because they 'allowed' their weapons to be stolen, or sold to people who may use them. This surprised everyone, partly because some companies could be found negligent, but not all of them.

Firstoff, its not "you" its certain people. Not everyone in America is this way.

The best I can figure, is our lax civil laws allow for people to try and sue for anything and everything. However, don't generalize, I'm sure there are stupid, opportunistic sonsaguns everywhere.

Thats right Adam, even in jolly old England :) It would pretty hard to sue a gun manufacturer in a country where they aren't even allowed ;)
