Lock Picking

When I was just a young detective *tongue in cheek* someone worked one of my cases and said they were able to pick a lock and get some info for me.

Then I was reading a thread somewhere where someone said something about finally *note bold* being able to pick a lock and the information they got was who they suspected - not the alibi.

Now I have lock picking as a skill myself, but I have only been given the option to pick the lock the first time I go to question that witness. And when trying to help someone else with one of their cases, I have never been given the option to pick the lock. Does anyone have any helpful hints about how this works?

Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else - there are just so many threads . . .

Lock Picking works just the way you described it.

The first time you visit a suspect there is a chance they will not be home. You pick the lock and get either the alibi or motive question answered for free.

After you have visited all the suspects Lock Picking is no longer used in that case.

If you have not been given the option when working someone else's case it simply means they already visited each suspect.
