If a townie says that a suspect does not know anything about the case, does that mean that that suspect didn't commit the crime? I looked for the answer to this question in the Welcome Newbies thread, but couldn't find it.

OK I think this is right.
If a townie says that Reginald Goforth doesnt know anything about the murder, then he won't have anything to say.
If a townie says that Reginald Goforth thinks he knows who the murder is, he will point the finger at 'someone'. That someone 'might not' be the murder. He only THINKS it's that person.
In each case, yes, Reginald can still be the murderer.
