Unacceptable Sleuth Behaviour

I've been playing Sleuth for almost a year and the reason for that is a really great, tolerant, caring, generous community that strive to help people out.

I know agencies are always helping out other agencies and that agencies at time s have donated gear and money to a new agency to help them out.

I think that's why it really pisses me off when people take advantage of this situation.

I know it doesn't happen that often which is amazing itself.

However, I find when people join an agency and are given gear or money for a specific purpose then leave and start their own agency this is totally and utterly unacceptable.

I also think that people going around and begging for subscriptions is pretty unacceptable too. Especially when Sleuth is well-priced and secondly is not (*GASP*) an acutal need for our well-being.

I know that people including Blue and I have given out Gift Subscriptions before but ONLY because the people were great, friendly and nice and never asked for them!

Anyhow, I just needed to rant and get it off my chest. I'm sure there's other unacceptable behaviour too. And none of us are perfect.

All in all, Sleuth is such a great community with great people and Ben, Sunny and the Mods, and most of the community work hard at keeping that way.

Oh, and next time someone sends me crap like that, I'll save the message and copypaste it on this thread.

You'll be warned.

Some people might not agree with Badass's idea of posting IMs from people on the bboard. But really, if you are going to attempt to be hurtful or malicious, then you are going to become an outcast of the excellent community we've got here.

BadAss and I are frequent post people on these bboards, but all of our posts are meant in mirth to make people laugh. If you have other ideas about how the use the free to post and IM functions that Ben and Sunny have given us, maybe you should end up embarrassed in front of the community.

*sigh* I've received my share. Some are down right disgusting. Some are pitiful. I usually save it and reply that it is inappropriate and further communications will be forwarded to admin. So far I've only twice had to resort to sending pm's to admin. one of those I would not be able to post on the public boards. The most recent was more insulting than anything, which didn't bother me. It was the 'game' they were trying to play that ticked me off. *sigh*

On the bright side...... :)

Irony has over the years in Sleuth you see similar type of people doing similar things. I can't remember how many times we had some come in creating 0 experience detectives to just for our non-entertainment on the message board? We have also seen on several ocassions people behaving like an ass, and then claiming their little brother logged in as them (hence my reference to this in my bio.) We also have seen on several ocassions people who weren't particularly receiving support on the boards with their posting, and faked popularity by creating doubles to respond to their own posts. Or simply creating different detectives, but also pretending different people behind the detectives. We also have kids who like to run off their potty mouths on PMs. We have the annoying that try too hard. People who feel the need to post in foreign languages. Countless of cases of people preferring to speak in IM language. And many, what I assume teenage boys who like to post sexual posts or having posts soly attributed to the fact that they want a girlfriend. On a few ocassions women have created these posts as well. We also have had several people who gave their password on the first day to total strangers, and are surprised the total stranger abused it, then whined about it endless on the boards as if somehow it is our fault and Ben should change it. We have our ocassional Big Balla-gates (Big Balla being the worst this far.) He was definitely unique that when he had PM all the women asking for sex, he eventually progressed in PMing all the males asking them if they were maybe in real life female but were just playing with a male detective.

Bottom line is. These people come and go. And never stick around.

It's the people who have good intentions for the community, or like the game and competition, who stick around. As long as we outnumber the short timers and ammatures, call them upon their behaviour and if really needed moderate, we'll be fine.

thanks jstdkn. good to know. i can't believe people would create a double for popularity. dorks.

anyway, i have received some weird-o pms from people, too. usually 0 xp, 0 days old people who never are on again. i pay no attention to it.

is Block the same as Ignore this User? if you do block, does it block them forever or just for that PM?

It blocks them for ever.

*sighs*

But the real die-hards just keep creating new accounts over & over.

Ignore this user is the term used here rather than block.

Yes, ignore is forever. You never have to deal with childish behaviour in PM from that person again.
