I'm sure a lot of you noticed that we were down off and on Sunday.

First off, I'm very sorry about the hassle. Optimizing high traffic web servers is tricky business, and I'm no expert on it.

I made some changes that I was hoping would improve things, but in the process, I broke some things that were previously working.

Anyway, the server is back up now, and hopefully it is running better, ut we'll have to wait and see how it performs during peak hours.

Expect more periodic outages over the next few days. Hopefully none will be as long as Sunday's but, it's tough to predict how these things will go.

As always, we appreciate your patience.

I should be able to make this one perform better, so we're not planning on purchasing one immediately.

If our recent growth rate continues, we will eventually have to upgrade the hardware.

I don't know if it's just me but everything works fine except I cannot go into any of the townies places. Everytime I try to go to the waiter in Dehli, I get the "cannot find server" error. I've tried cleaning out my cache and renewing page, etc. but still cannot get to many of the townies, at least here in Dehli.

Thanks so much for all your hard work! It is truly appreciated.

In other words, Linda, that's a server outage.

Thanks Lucian. Do I detect a note of sarcasm? lol

My point was it is only happening in Dehli that I can see. I didn't know if it was possible for just one part to be out or if it was just me.

Give me a break :) I'm good at catching bad guys but know absolutely nothing about servers unless I'm at a restaurant. lol

Linda,

Are you still having problems with the townies?

(this is linda also)

I just went and tried with my other detective and can get to everything fine in Dehli. Maybe just the case I was working on with Linda got somehow screwed up with the server ups and downs. I will try just quitting that case and starting over with a new one.

I just went in and quit the case I was working and started a new one and all is fine. It must have just been a funky thing that happened with being in the middle of a case.

Who knows, certainly not me :) All is well now. Thank you.

Just to let you know, I'm having the opposite affect. Beginning on Monday (I usually take Sundays off) the speed at which the pages load is much slower than it used to be. I'm not complaining, just to letting you know that there still might be some speed issues. But The pages are taking about 25-30 seconds to refresh now when it used to be less than 1 second. And that makes the game almost unplayable (almost... I'll still suffer through it because its such a fun game). But it is difficult when each case takes about 45 minutes to play becuase of the page loading times. But other than this issue, you have created a wonderful game.

Speed is relative to the number of people logged in and it seems the time of day.

I was on this morning (9 am EST) with about 45+ other people and things flew along.

I was on again in the afternoon (2 PM EST) and could not load a page without getting an error message.

Now (6 PM EST) things seem to load at a slower speed than this morning, but no issues of not loading at all.
