More than 3?

Heya, first post so take it easy on me =)

Are there ever more than 3 suspects on the Hard level? I was under the impression that there are only 3 up till Really Hard. If there are only 3, is it possible there is a bug sometimes? I had three solid suspects, used my research, knocked one of the three out, knocked the other one out through questioning and hair pieces. So logically, I guessed the last one. Well apparently, he wasn't it either. In fact, it was someone else that wasn't one of my three. When I find three suspects, I quit checking the rest of their alibis, I figure its a waste of questions. I'm not perfect, so I guess I could have wrote down the wrong name in my notes, but outside of that, has anyone ran across anything like this?

Thanks,

Ben Matlock *wink*

Oh and you better check research after every new suspect. The one that gets cleared you dont need to ask alibi question at all :P

I'll post the following info here in a seperate post so that it can be removed tomorrow after you've had a chance to see it as it might be considered giving too much away ;)

Anyway, back to your example with a Hard level case. What the Helper should have read is 7 (if someone has seen Hard go up to 8 let us know - I just couldn't find any on the test cases I did earlier and I only have the stats for really hard and up) suspects (sorry, I still call them all suspects although I can see the Helper calls them people) - 2 OR 3 pieces of evidence - and 4 fakes/none (this is what the Helper calls suspects).

Earlier on each level always had the same number of suspects, i.e. X, with a fixed number of real and fake/none alibis, and a fixed amount of physical evidence. This has later been changed so that the number of suspects and/or pieces of physical evidence on a given level can vary. But the number of suspects only varies by a possible +1 from the "original settings" with each level still having a fixed number of suspects with fake/none alibis and a varying number of suspects with real alibis, which is the reason for the possible X+1. However, a few levels still only have X number of suspects and not the optional X+1 - I thinks these are Hard and Almost Impossible, and maybe Intermediate although I'm not willing to bank on it :)

Oops, seems I was too slow at typing it up - *lol* - but what's worse is that Reda and I don't seem to agree on the numbers - *LOL* - poor Matlock, if you weren't confused before, I'll bet you are now :D

Of course it's always the last case you check. So yes, I'll happily go along with the 7 OR 8 suspects on Hard, but there are 4 fake/none, one of which will be ruled out by research :)

Oh, and Intermediate goes by X and X+1 as well, so I'm almost sure Almosts do too although it's been a while since I've counted suspects on that level :)

Just to round off my all babbling Almosts go by X and X+1 as well - so the thing I said earlier about a few levels still having just X is not true, they all have the option of varying between X and X+1 :)

I've found that it's best to do the easy cases and then get a chance at the favours. The more experience points you get will make you do harder favours...

Mave, I think it might not be the higher experience as much as it's the number of successfully completed favours that makes you advance to a higher favour level. Without putting my head on the block, I think you advance to a higher level after 10 solved favours on a given level :)

I agree that is the number of favors at a given level that you complete that increases the difficulty of the favor. I knew someone once who had pretty high experience but whose favors were not at incredibly hard yet. That was because she kept quitting favors in order to pick her PE contact.

Great responses!! I think it cleared it up for me. Reda, if you could PM me those numbers, that would be a great deal of help to me.

The deal about the fortune teller I didn't know about. I have given her $20 a few times and I get the same response. I'm not quite sure what the response is, but I don't remember it helping me at all. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or looking at the wrong thing.

I think I understand now what might have happened. I think I might have researched before I found all the suspects. It would explain why my none/fake would be a little off when using research before I found the +1. At least from my understanding I think that is what has happened with me. Now I know(I think, haha) how to keep this from happending again =)

Thanks for all the tips and help ya'll!! Now if I can just find Tyler I might be allright...haha.
