Hi,

I want to give everybody fair warning. There will be two rule changes that effect agency favors and treasure hunts made in the next few days:

1) Detectives will lose any favor that they are holding when they join an agency. That is, if they have a favor available to them that they have not yet started, it will no longer be available after joining the agency.

2) Detectives will not be allowed to join an agency if they are currently working on a favor. They will be required to finish or quit that favor before accepting the invitation.

This is intended to cut down on the advantage that large super agencies (competitive agencies with sattelite non-competitive agencies) have over smaller agencies when competing for treasure hunts.

This change will probably go into effect on Thursday or Friday.

If you have any questions or comments about the need for this rule change, please post them here.

BTW:

This should not be interepreted to mean that agencies who swap in members have been cheating, because they are not.

I love seeing the strategies that agencies have developed over time to be more successful in hunts. The teamwork and organization involved in making that work is really impressive.

But, it's obvious that the current rules need a little tweaking to allow smaller agencies to be competitive. Hopefully these rules will even things out a little bit.

Sounds fair. I mean, people holding favors when joining agencies doesn't sound very fair.

The rule change seems liek a good idea. Thanks Ben!

I didn't realize that you could do that to begin with.

Thanks Ben! Maybe now we can capture a few more hunts.

Alright, since honesty and open-ness has always been the policy in the past, here we go with an explanation of my cursing.

Mojo freely uses the 'rotation' method when it seems necessary. We have no problem switching around our detectives. After all, there ALREADY is the rule against going back and forth between agencies for 48 hours and that was meant for this, was it not?

Also, I don't think we should be taken away the freedom to do so. It's not cheating, it's a strategy. If it was cheating, then bite my head off.

Of course, this does imply that larger agencies have a bigger advantage... *pauses* ...OH WAIT! That's the point of a bigger agency! So if smaller agencies want to compete even more, then they can widen their agency or do the whole 'rotation' thing.

This seems like it is coming from a complaint. And, frankly, whoever needs to complain about another agency's affairs needs to discuss it with the agency and open a discussion.

This is, in no way, a rant at Ben. I can accept these rules, but I'm not gonna sit back and watch it happen because of a stupid reason.

Here is the link to the thread concerning the 48 hour rule, as well as the 2 detectives per agency rule.

I just really don't think these rules are necessary or completely fair.

The thread with the link above concerns this issue, and I don't think we need to address the issue again, as it already has been addressed.

Excellent decision, Ben :) After all there is a reason why there are different types of agencies and none of them have room for an unlimited amount of detectives :)

As for the 48 hour rule, I think most of us know that there are ways around that anyway, so it seems fair enough to me to make additional limitations for the general fairness of the hunts ;)

As far as I know, there aren't any ways around it...

Jojo I dont think anyone said this is cheating. To tell you the truth I wasnt even aware of the fact big agencies did that till now and now that I do know it I still dont care.

But I was a bit annoyed by the fact that FK dont seem to get hunts anymore.
We do our best, work hard and this rule will help us maybe get some chance.

Not everyone can afford the time and money for several detectives. And not every agency wants to ask their members for their password.
I dont say there is anything wrong with doing that. Some are more competitive then others.
But it will be nice to get a chance at hunts once in a while.
Even if you are small.
