Detective Biography

THE BEGINNING
I don't know how it happened. The night I was murdered. Somehow, my body came back, but I can only go out at night. The sun burns now.

They say revenge is sweet, and I like sweetness. I now travel dark alleys, nightclubs, and other shady places to find my killer. As it so happens, I encounter many things--including other murders. It is also very sweet to find killers of others.

Of course, I choose to ignore deaths by my hand. Isn't that sweet?

THE EARLY VAMPIRE YEARS
It wasn't long before I encountered others like me--those more comfortable to be out at night. There was one in particular who I know now as Vampiric Smile. He was a combination of terrifying power and might, yet gentle and kind toward me.

VS invited me to leave New York and come to Shanghai so that my anguish could be transformed into more useful endeavors. In Shanghai, I was invited for the very first time to see the inner sanctum of The Crypt. I was expecting filth and muck.

Instead, The Crypt was filled with order and purpose. It was quite clean and organized and had a vast, vast warehouse filled with trophies. The Crypt's purpose fit my plans perfectly--solving murders. I was filled with awe at seeing how the many vampires in The Crypt worked as a team together.

I went to work immediately, and the others there helped me solve cases with amazing skills.

There was one presence in The Crypt who I found a special connection with--Guiltfinder. He is exceedingly handsome. You should see his nails. Wow! Guiltfinder and I would sit on overlooks together for hours on end watching the lights of Shanghai below with the moon and stars above.

Guiltfinder gently explained that it was he who found my dying body in a back alley in New York. He took it upon himself to save me from oblivion and become an immortal. He also explained that he would help me find my killer. My motive was revenge, but Guiltfinder's motive was focus. He explained that once I exacted vengeance for myself, I could grow into a more calculating and successful sleuth. I could focus without the cloud of emotion obscuring every case.

Guiltfinder, in his wisdom, steered me to meet the Prince of Shangri La, but I had to gain audience first, which meant I had to earn an invitation. Guiltfinder already knew who my killer was, but was allowing me to seek and destroy on my own. Guilt, in his wisdom, also knew my pursuits were the same as the Prince's.

After passing many roadblocks to the Prince, I finally met him in his splendid palace. The prince hired me to find Severus "the Rat" Boynton. He also informed me where to begin the hunt. That Rat was my killer. I finally located him in Delhi, and he experienced a slow, agonizing death. It was a sweet, sweet victory.

NOWADAYS
I now have solved thousands of cases. I continue to find villains throughout the world. And, I am free at last!
