Detective Biography

Much mystery surrounds the man known as Baron Wöggle Woggs von Woggen. Records are scant on the von Woggen lineage, though there are whispers of his being distantly related to the mad King Ludwig II. Indeed, some have claimed there is more than a little insanity in the Baron himself. Schloß Woggen, the von Woggen family seat, is rumoured to be located somewhere deep within the Bavarian Alps, yet its exact location is known only to few. For many years, Freiherr von Woggen lived a reclusive life, never setting foot outside Schloß Woggen, and only visited from time to time by his life-long friend, Cow Ward, and a few trusted others. He never had any reason to leave, for being a Baron, he was readily afforded all the comforts of life and knew of no want.

Yet one day, that all changed. Something traumatic drove him to the outside world. It is thought that he lost something very precious, something whose worth is known only to him, something which even his position as Baron could not restore to him. Many have joined him on this life-long quest to recover it, notably Cow Ward, who in turn holds aspirations of one day jumping over the moon. Still others considered his obsession to be lunacy, perhaps signs of the same affliction suffered by that distant relative, the mad King of Bavaria. “Cow Ward?” they wondered, “surely he must be imagining friends for himself. This fellow sounds like the fanciful product of a schoolboy’s creative writing assignment. Surely his quest is no different!” And you who are reading this now might think it trivial, even juvenile, the object of his search. Not to him: for the Baron, this quest has been a matter of the utmost importance. Since leaving Schloß Woggen those many, many years ago, he has been striving to find... that red shovel!
