Detective Biography

One of my earliest memories is looking out a window of our 2nd floor apartment which overlooked a dirty alley in the slums of New York. It was a tough life, not only for me and my family, but for almost everyone where we lived. My family could certainly be categorized as a dysfunctional family. My dad was the preverbal deadbeat dad, depending totally on what he could beg for, or the few odd jobs here and there. Even at that it was quickly spent on liquor, as he would stay drunk most of the time. My poor mom was caught in the middle of this difficult situation. She always did her best for me, while trying to hide every penny she could scrape together for food and my welfare. It was when I just turned five, when dad left us one day and didn't return. We never heard from him again. Even though my parent’s lives were nothing great, my mom was still crushed to be left a struggling single parent, in a harsh world. I remember her taking every odd job she could find just to try to make ends meet. It was during that time, with a failed marriage and heavy responsibility of providing for us, she became ill. We found out she had tuberculosis and was in the last stages, so she didn’t live long. Wow, my life was in a tailspin, and all of this had taken place in a matter of less than a year.

Not having any family, I was placed in an orphan’s home in nearby New Jersey, where I stayed for the next three years. I never heard my mom speak of any family while she was alive, but unbeknown to me, she had a sister living in Chicago. Some how my aunt found out about mom’s passing, and me living in the orphan's home. I remember like it was yesterday, that blustery winter morning when my aunt came into that orphan’s home, demanding that she be able to take me out of that place, to her home in Chicago. It took a few weeks to go through all the red tape, but it wasn’t long that her and my uncle came to pick me up. It was one of the happiest days of my life. At last, I had a real honest to goodness family, one that was secure and loving. I quickly became the apple of their eye and it seemed I could do no wrong.

I really believe that my destiny began when I was twelve, for that is when my uncle started a private investigation business. From the time I was twelve, up until now, I have always had a passion for police work and to see people brought to justice. After my uncle's death, I inherited his business, at that point I decided to move the agency to New York. It's here I met and fell madly in love with Texan. We soon changed our agency name to "Zodiac Crime Stoppers Detective Agency," in honor of my aunt and uncle, and we dedicated it to the memory of my beloved mother. Guess you might say, I was truly the original Nancy Drew, ha!
