Detective Biography
There are few who know where I came from and even fewer who care. Being a loner has it's good points, but I do miss the camaraderie I see in those who walk by my office. I've been on my own since the age of 14, not necessarily by choice. I lived vicariously through the children I'd watch at night through windows as I huddled out of the cold in the corner of an abandoned building. Imagining it was I who was being tucked into a warm bed by loving parents. My days were spent stealing from the homes of those children I watched. Stealing meant surviving. In my heart I knew it was wrong, but it's funny how hunger and fear can justify almost any crime.
I've forgotten how old I am. Though, I suppose it doesn't really even matter. At the age of 14, I witnessed the murder of my parents at the hands of someone they called "friend". He tried to kill me too, but I was small for my age and faster than a fat, balding, middle-aged man. For me, the past dictates much of what I am today. Years spent isolated and trusting no one leaves many wounds, too many to even try to heal. So I live day to day. I try to do what I can to make the world a better place, but still go home to an empty house, living vicariously through the people I watch walking down the street, strolling through the park, and tucking their children into bed at night.
Oh, by the way...that fat, balding, middle-aged "friend" of my parents...well, he never could run very fast, and I hear that he mysteriously disappeared a few years ago and has never been heard from since.
